Usually the enemy will be armed with a toothpick or junkbow. Originally posted by Rusted Cake:Indeed Crossbows are easy mode due to the lack of hostiles using note worthy crossbows. The crossbow is a damn-near essential survival tool, as once they are proficient they can leap-frog chain stagger nasties, or outright kill them if they have access to more powerful bows. You don't need an army of these, I usually run with 2-3 as my outrunner group. ![]() They run fast, hit hard, and are profoundly resourceful thieves procuring their own food and obtaining science books and blueprints for the outpost. My 'thieves' are more like rangers, armed with a crossbow and ninja blades and can kite damn near everything they can outrun, and blend in with my 'regulars' as fire support quite naturally. it can be excessively dangerous to have a ball pit of melee characters all hugging around targets taking uneccesary damage on an enemy back-swing. Ranged fire can be quite lethal, and can be done at a safe distance, such as when engaging Beak Things or robotics. That said, it's good to have trained bowmen in your faction. Fire fast, do very little damage, and not prone to literally murder your own people in one shot. Toothpick/Junkbow - training weapons for those characters still prone to shooting their allies in the head. ![]()
